Week 1 College Basketball Winners and Losers

I heard so much about how bad the week 1 slate was and how there weren't good games until Friday. That just wasn't true.

This will be a weekly segment for now where I just take a look at each night and keep you up to date on the happenings in the CBB world, especially for those of you who don't follow closely until later in the year!

Especially this week, if your team isn't listed, they likely took care of buisness well enough to not need to be on here!

Monday:

JMU OVER Michigan State! The Dukes took their talents into East Lansing and beat Michigan State! One storyline to watch about the Spartans: They shot 1-20 from 3. That is officially something to watch moving into the year!
First win of the season: IUPUI!!
USC beat Kansas State 82-69 in Vegas! USC may have the best backcourt in the country!
No other ranked teams really struggled Monday night.
Oregon beat Georgia 82-71! Dante with a MONSTER double double 16 pts/21 boards.
Princeton UPSET Rutgers 68-61!
Charleston survives a scare from Iona 71-69!
Ohio State survives vs. an upstart Oakland 79-73!
WVU Survives vs. Missouri State!
Seton Hall gets past St. Peter's!
Belmont beat GA state 89-87 behind 29 from Cade Tyson!
NAIA Mobile BEAT South Alabama 83-74!
Louisiana Lafayette overcae Youngstown State!
Albilene Christan BEAT Oklahoma State 64-59!
Cal SURVIVES vs. St. Thomas (MN)

Tuesday:

Baylor used a STRONG 2H to beat Auburn in Sioux Falls!
Indiana SURVIVES vs. FGCU 69-63!
La Salle Defeats Drexel 67-61 in the Big 5 Classic opener!
Pitino & Cooley get their first wins at their new programs!
North Texas beat UNI 83-77 in OT!
Presbyterian UPSETS Sandy 68-62!
Purdue Fort Wayne Beats DePaul 82-74! Not sure if it's actually an upset or not. LOL

Wednesday:

FAU opens the year STRONG over Loyola Chicago in Chicago!
Drake pulls away late from Lipscomb to win 85-70!
Mississippi State rolled over Arizona State 71-56 in Chicago!
Southern UPSETs UNLV 85-71!

Thursday:

Michigan State gets into the W column over Southern Indiana... however, they had another dismal shooting performance (1-11 from 3). Bringing their season totals to 2-31 from 3. It's offically concenring IMO.
St. Mary's handles New Mexico 72-58!
UC Davis completes a 20 point comeback to beat Pepperdine 79-78!!
In an early contender for game of the year, James Madison beats Kent State in 2OT 113-108! This game was CRAZY, and featured a lot of HIGH LEVEL shot making! Both of these teams look like they'll be great 12 seeds come March!
Georgia Tech SURVIVES vs. Howard 88-85!
Utah Valley beats Ssam Houston 79-73 in OT!
Cal State Northridge beats Idaho 76-73!

Friday: The best basketball day of the opening week!

Caleb Love returned to Cameron Indoor and continued his success vs. the Blue Devils. Arizona won 78-73 in a marquee matchup that really helps boost the Pac-12's resume this year!
Tennessee goes to Madison and defeats Wisconsin 80-70!
Gonzaga/Miami (Fl) both handle their solid mid- major matchups
Texas A&M Goes to Columbus and defeats Ohio State! Props to A&M for scheduling a true road game like this! A big complaint had been their SOS in recent years!
BYU Upsets San Diego State 74-65 in Provo!
Liberty handles Charlotte 71-59 in Charlotte!
Duquesne beats Charleston 90-72! Watch out for Duquesne in the A-10!
Oregon State defeats Troy 81-80 in 2OT in a game al of 10 people were able to watch. GET RID OF THE Pac-12 NETWORK
Davidson defeats Maryland in Asheville 64-61!
Radford wins on a 4 point play 66-62 over Marshall!
Georgia gets a solid win over Wake Forest 80-77!
Monmouth UPSETS WVU 73-65!
Virginia beats Florida in a great matchup of teams I expect to see in March!
Ole Miss survives a scare from Eastern Washington, winning 75-64!
Nicholls St UPSETS LSU 68-66 on a GREAT shot from Jalen White!
Northwestern defeats Dayton 71-66!
Memphis goes into Columbia and beats Missouri 70-55!
Clemson defeats UAB 77-76!
South Carolina survives a good one with Virginia Tech 79-77!
Pacific UPSETS Cal 87-79!
